TIRTIR and Jung von Matt HANGANG are turning a simple concert-day beauty need into a brand experience that blends K-beauty, Korean culture and BTS fandom.
Global Korean makeup brand TIRTIR, in partnership with Jung von Matt HANGANG, brought its CONCERT-PROOF BAR to BTS THE CITY ARIRANG – NEW YORK, creating a beauty experience designed specifically around the realities of concert day.
The activation took place at ARMY ‘MADANG’ at the Korean Cultural Center New York, a dedicated fan space featuring BTS-inspired experiences, cultural programming and brand activations. TIRTIR participated as the official K-beauty brand.
Turning fan attention into brand utility
The idea began with a simple insight: a concert is much more than the few hours an artist spends on stage. For fans, the day can involve hours of queuing, summer heat, movement, photos, videos and constant social sharing. TIRTIR used those behaviours to create a role for the brand beyond traditional advertising.
At the CONCERT-PROOF BAR, fans could test products designed for long and high-energy days, including sun care and lip products. They could also get early access to an upcoming TIRTIR cushion foundation and exclusive event benefits.

Where K-beauty meets BTS culture
A key product was the limited-edition BTS THE CITY New York Perfect Setting Duo, combining TIRTIR’s Reflect Glow Prep Primer and Mask Fit Makeup Fixer with a special BTS THE CITY ARIRANG pouch. The pouch takes inspiration from the traditional Korean bokjumeoni, or lucky pouch, giving the product a cultural detail that connects TIRTIR’s Korean identity with the global BTS fandom.
From product trial to purchase
The experience was also designed with commerce in mind.Fans could purchase the limited-edition set through Weverse, collect products they had already purchased or use QR codes at the activation to make purchases.
This created a connected journey from discovery and product trial to purchase and collection. For TIRTIR, the activation builds on its previous participation in BTS THE CITY – BUSAN while expanding its presence in the US market.Rather than simply placing the brand inside a major cultural event, TIRTIR and Jung von Matt HANGANG built the experience around how fans actually behave during concert day.
As TIRTIR CMO Sunyoung Erika Lee put it, global growth is about becoming relevant in the moments that matter to consumers.
The result is a useful lesson in experiential marketing: sometimes the strongest brand activation isn’t about interrupting the audience’s experience—it is about improving it.
